World class pole vaulters Nilsen, Braz at Duplantis, lalaro sa bansa

Sasabayan ng husay ni Pinoy Ernest John "EJ" Obiena bilang world's No. 3 ang mga world-class pole vaulting colleagues na dadalhin niya sa bansa sa isang invitational competition sa 2023.

Iimbitahin na makarating sa Pilipinas sina world No. 2 Chris Nilsen, Rio 2016 Olympics gold medalist Thiago Braz lalo na si world and Olympic champion at world record holder Armand Duplantis.

Sa unang pagkakataon, ang tatlo at iba pang world class pole vaulters ay magpapakita ng mga high-flying acts sa harap ng Pinoy fans.

“The objective is to bring them here after the outdoor season’s over,” saad ni Obiena kay Philippine Olympic Committee President Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino sa isa nilang pag-uusap habang nasa bakasyon sa bansa ang world championships bronze medalist kasama ang nobya na German long jumper na si Caroline Joyeaux.

Aprubado ito ni Tolentino at hahanapan na ito ng POC head ng venue.

“The Picnic Grove here could be an ideal venue,” saad ni Tolentino, hinggil sa paboritong destinasyon ng local at foreign tourists sa Tagaytay City.

Itutulad ang setup na parang sa Europe, isang street venue kung saan ang runway, box, crossbars at landing area ay portable o collapsible. “With the Taal Volcano as backdrop, what more could you ask for—a world-class pole vault action in one of the most picturesque tourist attractions in the country,” saad ni Tolentino. “Every jump will be postcard-perfect.”

Ang European outdoor season ay magtatapos sa unang linggo ng Setyembre at ang Asian Games sa Huangzhou ay naka-set sa parehong buwan sa 2023. Napipisil nina Obiena at Tolentino ang last part ng Setyembre o early mid-October bilang petsa. “The event will be a spectator-friendly event, and it’s planned that it be sanctioned by World Athletics,” ani Obiena.
