Kabuuang malalakas na 101-Team Philippines ang magtutungo na sa China ngayong araw ng Lunes, dalawang araw bago ang opening ceremony ng 6th Asian Beach Games na magbabalik matapos na mahinto ng 10-taon na idaraos sa sikat na resort island city ng Sanya.
Naroon sa opening ceremony sa Yasha Park Phase 1 Ring Theater si two-time world jiu-jitsu champion Annie Ramirez upang iwagayway ang bandila ng Pilipinas sa parada ng mga atleta hanggang sa closing ceremony sa April 30.
Isa sa highlights ng closing ceremony ang susunod na pag-host ng Asian Beach Games sa 2028—Cebu City. “It will be a highly-anticipated event for us as the next host of the Asian Beach Games,” ayon kay Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino na lilipad pa-Sanya sa Martes. “As host, we also anticipate a successful hosting, showcasing not only our athletes performance, but as importantly as host.”
Sasabak ang Filipino athletes sa 3x3 basketball, open water swimming at water polo, aquathlon, beach athletics, beach handball, beach kabaddi, beach soccer, beach volleyball, beach wrestling, dragon boat, jiu-jitsu, sailing, sport climbing at teqball sa Sanya.
Paboritong magkamedalya bukod kina Ramirez ay sina jujitsu standout, Kaila Napolis at women’s beach volleyball squad ng Thailand Southeast Asian Games gold winner Sunny Villapando na paparehas kina Sofiah Pagara, Khyle Progella at Grydelle Matibag.
Nariyan din sina basketball 3x3 quartets at triathlon’s Raven Alcoseba at Erika Burgos sa women’s side at ang men’s trio nina Andrew Remolino, Inaki Lorbes at Matthew Hermosa.
Limang ginto ang nakopo ng 'Pinas, 10 silvers at 35 bronzes sa games na sinimulan noong 2008 sa Bali, 2010 games sa Oman, 2012 sa Haiyang (China) at 2014 sa Phuket.
