LGU na ang bahala — DOT.. Fully vaccinated o swab test sa mga turista

Ipinauubaya na ng Department of Tourism sa mga local government units (LGUs) ang pag-oobliga sa mga travelers at turista kung kinakailangang fully vaccinated na o may RT-PCR COVID-19 test results bago makapasok sa kanilang bayan.


“That is what the [Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases] gave. It is for the LGUs to decide either fully vaccinated or as an alternative to an RT-PCR swab,” ani DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat sa isang interview ngayong Miyerkules.


Ayon kay Puyat, nakasaad sa kasalukuyang polisiya ng gobyerno, “either/or” at hindi na inoobliga na parehong dapat mayroon nito. “LGU knows the cases, how to handle, and how many hospitals they have in their own destination,” paliwanag ni Puyat.


Binanggit ng kalihim na nais ng ilang LGUs na fully-vaccinated na ang mga turistang papasok sa kanilang lokalidad subalit mas gusto nilang maraming residente sa kanilang nasasakupan ang mabakunahan kontra-COVID-19.


“You don’t only protect the tourist but also the locals,” sabi ng kalihim. Gayunman, sinabi ni Puyat na kailangang i-verify ng isang traveler ang kanyang vaccination status.


“The LGUs want to have the way to authenticate [the vaccination]. Kung ang RT-PCR nga, napepeke, ito pa kaya,” saad ni Puyat.
