Women's volleyball team, nagte-training na sa Japan

Nagtungo sa bansang Japan ang Philippine women’s volleyball team para sa dalawang linggong training camp bago sumabak sa Southeast East Asian Games sa Cambodia sa susunod na buwan.

Pinangungunahan ni team captain Alyssa Valdez, hangad ng koponan na mawakasan na ang napakatagal ng medal drought sa women's volleyball ng biennial meet.

Kasama ni Valdez na nagtungo ng Japan sina Philippine National Volleyball Federation chairman for the national team commission Tony Boy Liao, national team head coach Jorge Souza de Brito, assistant coaches Sherwin Meneses, Cherry Rose Macatangay, trainer Raffy Mosuela, at strength and conditioning coach Grace Gomez.

Naroon din ang mga kakampi ni Valdez sa Creamline na sina Jia De Guzman, Jema Galanza, Tots Carlos, Ced Domingo, Michele Gumabao, at Kyla Atienza, ang Cignal duo nina Maria Angelica Cayuna at Glaudine Troncoso, Bang Pineda ng Akari, Dell Palomata ng PLDT, Cherry Rose Nunag at Katrina Mae Tolentino ng Choco Mucho at si Mylene Paat ng Cherry Tiggo.


Pagkatapos ng dalawang linggong training,didiretso na ang koponan sa Cambodia.


Base sa draw, ang mga Pinay ay napabilang sa Group B kasama ng reigning silver medalist Vietnam, host country Cambodia at Singapore.

Nagkasama-sama naman sa Group A ang defending champions Thailand, last edition’s bronze medalist Indonesia, Myanmar at Malaysia.


Magsisimula ang indoor volleyball competition sa Cambodia SEA Games sa Mayo 3 sa Morodok Tecno Elephant Hall, dalawang araw bago ang opening rites sa Mayo 5.
