EKSKLUSIBO naming nakunan ng pahayag ang legal counsel ni Bea Alonzo na si Atty. Joey Garcia pagkatapos nilang maghain ng kasong cyber libel sa Quezon City Prosecutor's Office laban sa mga TV host-vloggers na sina Cristy Fermin at Ogie Diaz at kani-kanilang mga co-hosts sa kanilang vlog.
Kasalukuyang nagle-late lunch si Atty. Joey kasama ang kanyang kliyente na si Bea at ang manager nito na si Shirley Kuan.
Nakuha namin ang numero ni Atty. Joey kay Ms. Shirley o mas kilala bilang si “SK” sa kanyang showbiz friends.
Bawal kasi silang magsalita ni Bea about the case. Dapat lang talaga na ang abogado ang magsasalita para sa kanyang kliyente para maiwasan ang anumang legal impediment sa kasong isinampa nila sa korte.
Pero may dalawang tanong lang kami kay SK na kami’y kanyang pinaunlakan.
Una, napuno na ba si Bea kaya napagdesisyunan niya na maghain na ng demanda? At sariling desisyon ba ito ni Bea?
Sagot ni SK, “Yes. Decision niya ‘yan. Support lang ako.”
Narito ang kabuuan ng statement na personal na ipinadala sa amin ni Atty. Joey…
“The three separate criminal cases of cyber libel filed today against the named respondents are clear and very strong messages from our client, Ms. Bea Alonzo.
“She has endured all the defamatory and malicious statements against her character by these individuals in the past months or even years with silence, dignity and grace.
“But there is always a limit and now is the time for definitive legal action.
It must be underscored that in more than two decades of Ms. Alonzo’s long and illustrious career, this is the first time that she has taken positive steps against those who spread false news against her with the intent to besmirch her good reputation in the entertainment industry.
“The allegations in her complaints are supported with proper evidence. Consistent with the legal process, we expect that the Office of the City Prosecutor of Quezon City will issue the respective subpoenas to the individuals concerned who will be given the opportunity to submit their counter-affidavits.”
Dagdag niya, “Also, as a law abiding citizen & a dutiful taxpayer, Ms. Alonzo is enforcing her right in filing these complaints against these individuals who strategically employed negative sensationalism to drive views and followers in their favor through their social media accounts, reaping financial benefits at our client’s expense. Their deliberate actions aimed at tarnishing our client’s reputation not only demonstrate calculated intent but also raise questions about the transparency of their financial activities, particularly regarding potential tax obligations on their social media earnings due to the government, particularly the Bureau of Internal Revenue.”
