Niyanig ng magnitude 7.3 na lindol ang New Zealand kagabi, Huwebes, bandang alas-9:21 PM (Philippine Standard Time) na may lalim na 10 km, ayon sa Phivolcs.
Kaagad na itinaas ang tsunami threat sa New Zealand at inaasahang magdudulot ito ng light to moderate damages lalo na sa mga lugar na malapit sa episentro ng lindol kung kaya’t nagbabala ang National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) ng bansa at inabisuhang lumikas ang mga residenteng apektado ng insidente.
Pahayag ng NEMA, “This evacuation advice overrides the current COVID-19 Alert Level requirements. Do not stay at home if you are near the coast and felt the earthquake LONG or STRONG.
“Evacuate immediately to the nearest high ground, out of all tsunami evacuation zones or as far inland as possible. Stay 2 meters away from others if you can and it is safe to do so.”
