Monkeypox, wala pa sa ‘Pinas — DOH

Wala pang nade-detect sa bansa na kaso ng monkeypox na unang nadiskubre sa mga Western countries, ayon sa Department of Health (DOH) ngayong Biyernes.


“The monkeypox virus, transmitted to humans through close contact via wounds, bodily fluids or respiratory droplets from an infected person, animal, or contaminated material,” pahayag ng DOH.


Ayon sa DOH, ang mga sintomas na infected ng monkeypox ay lagnat, rash, at pamamaga ng lymph nodes. Sinabi naman ng ahensiya na pinaiigting na ng gobyerno ang mga border screening at anila, “ensuring surveillance systems are actively monitoring the situation.”


Binanggit din ng DOH na ang patuloy na pagsunod sa minimum public health standards ang maaaring makapigil sa monkeypox transmission.


“Wear your best-fitted mask, ensure good airflow, keep hands clean, and keep physical distance. These also protect us against COVID-19,” saad ng DOH sa isang statement.


Ayon pa sa DOH, ang monkeypox virus ay na-detect na sa United States, Canada at United Kingdom, at ilang European countries, kabilang na ang Portugal at Spain.
