Ibinalita ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) nitong Abril 22, kahapon, na isang smart city ang itatayo ng Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) sa Clark Freeport Zone sa Pampanga.
Pirmado na ng government-owned Clark Development Corporation (CDC) at Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH) ang smart city memorandum of understanding (MOU), sa pangunguna ni CDC President Manuel Gaerlan sa Philippine delegation sa signing ceremony na sinaksihan nina Philippine Embassy Economic Officer and Third Secretary Reisha Olavario at Commercial Counselor Jose Ma. Dinsay noong Abril 15, sa Songdo International Business District sa Incheon province, 30 kilometers southwest ng Seoul, South Korea.
Batay sa pinirmahang MOU, ipinahayag na ang LH ay magtatayo ng smart city na konektado sa Clark International Airport, na kalaunan ay magiging isang logistics hub na mayroong imprastruktura para sa tourism, recreation, at aviation maintenance.
Ani Gaerlan, inaasahan niya ang “technology sharing” sa pamamagitan ng MOU, partikular ang Korea communications network na gagamitin ng LH Urban Development para sa K-Smart City Development.
Hiwalay ding nakaharap ni Philippine Ambassador to South Korea, Ma. Theresa de Vega, ang mga CDC officials upang talakayin ang planong Manila-Seoul cooperation projects at investment promotion sa Clark Freeport Zone, sa hinaharap.
Ayon sa DFA, ang makabagong smart city ay gagamit umano ng artificial intelligence at malaking data para maproseso nang real-time ang mga impormasyon na kokolektahin sa pamamagitan ng mga sensors, at gagamitin naman ng mga city operators para mag-analyze ng mga datos para sa mga plano sa hinaharap.
"The Smart City MOU is a leap forward in the Philippines' shift to the 4th Industrial Revolution and a testament to the Philippines and Korea's shared ideas on prosperity in the Asia Pacific and our increased economic cooperation," pahayag ng DFA.
