Ipinagbabawal pa rin ng pamahalaan ang operasyon ng mga gyms sa mga lugar na nasa ilalim ng general community quarantine (GCQ) ‘with heightened restrictions’ kabilang na ang NCR Plus na binubuo ng Metro Manila at mga karatig na lugar, hanggang sa June 15, ayon sa Palasyo.
Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, dahil indoor na kadalasan ay air-conditioned, mas posible ang pagkakahawahan ng COVID-19 sa mga gyms.
Saad ni Roque, “Gyms are not allowed until June 15 because it is a matter of it at risk of being a super spreader event due to its nature of activities done indoors, [people] sweating and activities done in close contact.
“This is based on World Health Organization (WHO) and Department of Health (DOH) guidelines that gyms must remain closed for the time being alongside indoor amusement centers, arcades and internet cafes where it is difficult to observe social distancing.
“Pababain muna natin ang mga kaso ng COVID-19.”
