Usok mula sa nasunog na Navotas Sanitary Landfill, umabot hanggang Bataan

Kumalat na ang usok mula sa Navotas Sanitary Landfill na nadale ng apoy na umabot hanggang sa Bataan, ayon sa satellite data na inilabas ng Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) nitong Biyernes, Abril 17.

Matatandaang nasunog ang landfill bago mag-alas-8 ng gabi noong Abril 10, habang patuloy naman ang pagsisikap at ginagawa ng mga awtoridad upang maapula ang apoy.

At para ipakita kung gaano kalayo ang inabot ng usok, ini-record ng PhilSA ang mga oras-oras na snapshots mula alas-7:45 ng umaga hanggang alas-3:45 ng hapon noong Abril 11.

“Darker colors indicate higher levels of nitrogen dioxide, a proxy for smoke extent, which can be measured during daytime using satellite data,” saad ng PhilSA.

Dagdag pa ng ahensya, “On the morning of April 11, 2026, high nitrogen dioxide was observed over Navotas City, with elevated levels extending as far as Bataan due to predominantly westward wind from Navotas. By the afternoon of April 11, nitrogen dioxide concentrations had decreased but remained relatively high across Metro Manila.”
