Tsukii, may cash incentives at De Vega, tutulungan ng POC

Ibinalita ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) noong Biyernes na pagkakalooban nila ng P.5 million cash bonus si World Games karate gold medalist Junna Tsukii kasabay ng pagbibigay ng tulong kay dating Asia's Sprint Queen Lydia de Vega na nakikipaglaban sa sakit na kanser.


Si De Vega ay kasalukuyang nasa Makati Medical Center kung saan patuloy ang gamutan dito para sa kanyang Stage 4 breast cancer.


Lingid sa kaalaman ng nakararami, taong 2018 pa nang ma-diagnosed siya na may kanser ngunit walang anumang senyales na nakita dito nang pumarada siya kasama ng iba pang mga Filipino sports great bilang SEAGames Federation flag bearer noong opening ng 2019 Games dito sa bansa. “The news saddens me and the POC, our very own Lydia de Vega, our sports great, a Philippine treasure,” pahayag ni POC president Abraham Tolentino. “We in the POC family, my family, are hoping and praying that she wins this fight in the same manner as she won those great races in her prime.”


Inaprubahan ng POC Board ang P100,000 medical assistance para kay De Vega na personal na dinagdagan ni Tolentino ng P100,000.


Halagang P.5 milyon naman ang ipinagkaloob bilang insentibo kay Tsukii para sa nag-iisang gold medal na napanalunan ng 10-kataong Team Philippines sa World Games na idinaos sa Birmingham, Alabama. “The POC recognizes Junna’s feast with honor, it wasn’t the Olympics but the World Games are that tough a competition,”ani Tolentino. Ang gold medal ni Tsukii ang ikalawa ng bansa sa World Games matapos magwagi ni Carlo Biado sa men’s 9-ball ng billiards noong 2017 sa Wroclaw, Poland.
