“With regards to the industry, I’m looking forward to working harmoniously with open communication lines, to working closely with the industry. Kasama na po d’yan ang mga artista, ang mga local producers whom I want to empower that they may be able to come-up with globally competitive films at ng lahat po ng media at press,” pahayag ni Chair Lala during our interview sa Mario’s resto last Thursday.
“Honestly, I cannot say na may biggest challenge. Kasi I know that when you address a certain thing, a lot will come along with it. So, I know marami akong kakaharapin na challenges. Pero by God’s grace and I have the support of my board members whom I’m very thankful for because they are an active board, I know we will do well.”
“The former chairman has been generous with his insights. Naging maayos ‘yung… naging very smooth ‘yung aming transition and I think that helped a lot. He reached out even two weeks ago.
The moment he learned that I was, I took my oath, I was a part of the MTRCB, he reached out already,” lahad niya.
“So, right now, I’m still in the process of that. ‘Yung magagandang talks, ipinagpapatuloy namin. But he promised me that he’s just one call away.
“And I’m blessed din kasi ‘yung naabutan ko na board members is a working board. So, lahat sila, talagang nagmamalasakit sa MTRCB, sa ating country and sa industry. Everybody has been very helpful and very welcoming,” sabi pa niya.
“Ah, hindi po kasi ako nagpe-pay attention to negativity because I want to remain positive, faithful and thankful. So, I have no reaction to that.
“I grew up naman na naririnig ko at nababasa ko left and right ang bashing. The best way to deal with it is not to deal with it at all,” payo niya.
“Yes, I think it’s safe to say that we’ve been in a short talk with Netflix already. We started meeting also with Amazon Prime and I’m looking forward to a harmonious, healthy working relationship with them because I know that the MTRCB is very limited.
“Our jurisdiction is limited to the motion pictures and television programs. We do not have the jurisdiction over social media and online streamers. So, I think that’s the way that we can work harmoniously is to work with them. To be open with them and at least share our best practices and open our communication lines with them.”
“Again, with regards to the local streamers, I choose to work with them. So, I’m open for dialogues and open communication with them.
“Hindi pa ako nakakapanood but yeah, I’m looking forward to working with them because I’m sure they’re very open.
“Tita June Rufino (Viva Films/Vivamax top executive) naman is very close to our family and already reached-out, yeah. She told me na if there’s anything I want to talk about, she’s just one call away. So, I’m comfortable knowing that Tita June is there,” say pa ni Chair Lala.
