Sa isang advisory ng LRMC, nakasaad na ang pansamantalang suspensyon ng operasyon ng LRT1, “to give way to the completion of the upgrade of its signaling system.”

“Normal operations of LRT1 will resume on January 31, 2022, Monday,” sabi pa nito.

Paliwanag ng kumpanya, “Railway signaling or the traffic light system for railway is a system used to direct railway traffic and keep trains clear of each other at all times, ensuring smooth and safe operations.”

Ani pa ng LRMC, “The upgrade to the new Alstom signaling system is needed to accommodate the commercial use of fourth generation train sets on the existing system, which is targeted to begin in mid-2022”.
