Omicron variant cases, 535 na

Nakapagtala ang Department of Health (DOH) ngayong Miyerkules ng 492 dagdag na kaso ng mas nakahahawang Omicron COVID-19 variant, kaya umabot na sa 535 ang bilang ng kumpirmadong kaso nito sa bansa.


Ayon sa DOH, 332 sa bagong kaso ay local habang 160 ay returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs).


Sa 227 kaso, sinabi ng ahensiya na may mga address ito sa National Capital Region (NCR), 76 sa Calabarzon, 11 cases sa Central Luzon, at lima sa Central Visayas.


Mayroon ding tig-dalawang kaso mula sa Cagayan Valley, Western Visayas, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, at sa Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), at tig-isa naman sa Ilocos Region, Mimaropa, at sa Bangsamoro Region.


Base sa case list, ayon sa DOH, 3 kaso ang nananatiling active, 2 kaso ang nasawi, habang 20 kaso ay bineberipika pa.


Gayundin, sa latest run ay nakapag-sequenced na ng 714 samples.


“With the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant and the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, the DOH urges the public to follow protective health protocols and adhere to minimum public health standards,” pahayag ng DOH.


Patuloy naman ang panawagan ng DOH sa puliko na magpabakuna na laban sa COVID-19.


“Getting vaccinated is still our best line of defense when it comes to fighting and preventing severe and critical disease. Regardless of the variant, we must always keep our guards up against the enemy that is COVID-19,” ani pa ng ahensiya.
