Maagang pagbubuntis, HIV dumadami — DepEd... Paggamit ng condom, itinuturo na sa Grade 8

Itinuturo na ng Department of Education (DepEd) ang aktuwal na paggamit ng contraceptives, kabilang ang tamang paggamit ng condom, simula Grade 8, ayon kay Education Secretary Sonny Angara nitong Lunes.

Inilahad ito ni Angara sa House Committee on Appropriations hearing sa panukalang 2027 budget ng DepEd matapos tanungin ni Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña kung kabilang sa reproductive health education ang tamang paggamit ng condom, lalo na sa gitna ng tumataas na kaso ng adolescent pregnancy at HIV sa bansa.

Sinabi ni Angara na bahagi ng curriculum ang responsible reproductive health at mga paraan upang maiwasan ang hindi planadong pagbubuntis.

“Definitely, that’s a requirement of the reproductive health law, Your Honor. So I just have to check what age it’s being taught with our curriculum personnel. But definitely, ways to avoid unwanted pregnancies, responsible reproductive health, these are all parts of our curriculum and things we need to impart to our young people,” aniya.

Nilinaw niya na bagama’t maagang itinuturo ang tungkol sa body parts, ang aktuwal na paggamit ng contraceptives ay nasa Grade 8.
