Iba pa rin talaga ang charisma ni Joey de Leon.

Sa presscon ng My Teacher, ang Metro Manila Film Festival entry nila ni Toni Gonzaga, ayon sa Eat… Bulaga! host, kaya raw niya tinanggap ang movie ay dahil walang entry sa MMFF si Bossing Vic Sotto.

Ayon naman kay Toni, kung hindi tinanggap ni JDL ang My Teacher, malamang ay i-shelve muna nila ang pelikula.

"Para kasi kay JDL ang My Teacher. From the start, siya na ang iniisip namin na gumanap."

Sey naman ng Eat… Bulaga! host, ang tagal na niyang semi-retired sa paggawa ng movies pero tinanggap niya ang My Teacher dahil… "Na-miss ko ang Iskul Bukol, si Miss Tapia, ngayon Miss Toni na."

Sey naman ni Toni, "Actually, dati pa, 2020 pa nu'ng I texted Tito Joey because I consider him as my mentor in the industry. I remember when I was starting out... my father would always tell me 'When you enter the business, don't idolize the most famous, idolize those who landed the longest in the industry because it's easy to achieve fame but the most difficult to achieve is longevity.'"

Sinunod daw ni Toni ang payo ng kanyang Daddy Bonoy kaya si Joey ang naging idol niya.

Anyway, ang My Teacher ay produced ng TEN17P at TinCan Productions, ang production outfit ng mag-asawang Direk Paul Soriano at Toni Gonzaga.

Ang ibang nasa cast ng My Teacher aside from Toni at JDL ay sina Carmi Martin, Loisa Andalio, Ronnie Alonte, Pauline Mendoza, Isaiah dela Cruz, Hannah Arguelles, etc..
