Pumanaw na nitong Lunes, Setyembre 14, si Cynthia Barker, ang kauna-unahang Pinay mayor sa Hertsmere sa Hertfordshire, England sa edad na 58.
Sa Facebook post na inilabas ng kanyang kapatid na si Gene Alcantara, inanunsiyo nito na pumanaw na dahil sa malubhang sakit ang The Worshipful Hertsmere Mayor Councilor na si Cynthia Barker.
Aniya, "We will be issuing further information in due course, but may we ask please to respect the family's privacy at this very difficult time. Your prayers for the repose of her soul would however be welcome."
Gumawa ng kasaysayan si Barker nang hirangin itong kauna-unahang Pinay mayor sa England. Siya ay naging town councilor sa Elstree at Borehamwood at borough councilor sa Potters Bar mula May 2015 hanggang May 2019.
Siya ay nanungkulan muli sa Hertsmere bilang representative ng Borehamwood Kenilworth ward noong May 2019 sa ilalim ng Conservative Party.
