Kinilala rin sa The 8th EDDYS ang mga industry legends na sina Laurice Guillen, Odette Khan, Perla Bautista, Pen Medina, Rosemarie Gil and Eddie Mesa, and National Artist Kidlat Tahimik na tumanggap ng Movie Icon award for their body of work in Philippine cinema.
The EDDYS also paid tribute to Ogie Diaz who was named this year’s Joe Quirino Award recipient. Veteran entertainment editor Crispina Belen was honored with the Manny Pichel Award. The Joe Quirino Award commemorates the legacy of the late columnist and TV host known for his prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, while the Manny Pichel Award is named after a respected broadsheet editor.
Ang CEO ng Rampa Bar at Frontrow na si RS Francisco ang tumanggap ng Isah V. Red Award, which honors individuals who support and inspire underprivileged Filipinos.
Other winners included Under A Piaya Moon for Best Screenplay, Isang Himala for Best Musical Score, The Kingdom for Best Production Design, Topakk for Best Sound, and My Future You for Best Editing.
The original theme song Museo by Eliza Maturan, also from My Future You, received the award for Best Original Theme Song.
Si Ms. Sylvia Sanchez naman ng Nathan Studios ang itinanghal na Rising Movie Producer of the Year.
Sina Alexa Ilacad, Darren Espanto, Kaila Estrada, and Kyline Alcantara ang mga naging hosts ng The 8th EDDYS, habang sina Mr. Fu and Alexa Miro served as red carpet hosts.
Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma and OPM icon and singer-songwriter Ice Seguerra also had special participation in the awards night, along with Jackie Lou Blanco, Arman Ferrer, Carla Guevara, and David Young.
A delayed telecast will air on Kapamilya Channel and Jeepney TV, with international streaming on iWantTFC starting July 27.
The event was presented by Playtime PH in partnership with Newport World Resorts and ABS-CBN.
Co-presenters included Globe and Unilab.
Additional support came from Senators Camille Villar, Mark Villar, and Chiz Escudero, Beautederm Corporation, Luxxe White, Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival, Kat Corpus, My Daily Collagen, and Brightlight Entertainment.
The show was directed by Eric Quizon.
Vote verification was handled Juancho Robles’s auditing firm, Chan Robles & Company, CPAs.
The EDDYS is organized annually by the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd), a non-profit group composed of current and former entertainment editors from national newspapers, tabloids, and online platforms.
