Honasan, laban-bawi, aminado nang sablay pa rin ang internet sa 'Pinas

Humingi ng pasensiya si Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Gregorio Honasan ngayong Martes matapos sabihin na hindi na masama ang internet speed na 3 to 7 mbps ng bansa.


Sa pagpapatuloy ng deliberasyon ng budget ng DICT, halos P7.4 bilyon ang proposed budget na isinusumite para sa taong 2021. Ayon kay Honasan, ito ay makatutulong umano para mas mapabilis pa ang internet speed sa bansa.


Aniya, “I apologize. I should have really said, it is not yet that good, but we are trying to improve it. Based on global surveys, we are not doing that good yet, but we are not doing that bad. We are somewhere in the middle.”


Dagdag pa ni Honasan, hindi sapat ang P2.7 bilyon para sa Free Public Internet Access Fund sa taong 2021 mula sa Spectrum Users Fees na kinokolekta ng National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).


Isa na ang internet connection sa pinakakinakailangan sa Pilipinas lalo na ngayong pandemya upang maipagpatuloy ang mga negosyo at pag-aaral ng mga estudyante.

Bukod pa rito, sinabi rin ni Honasan na nahihirapan pa itong kumbinsihin ang pamahalaan para paglaanan ng pondo ang DICT.


Parang bigas ito. Is this a supply problem? Bakit may nabubulok na bigas sa bodega? Fiscal space will never be enough. A lot of agencies are competing for limited resources, but we can redistribute and prioritize allocation to ICT in its rightful place, we have a chance at improving our fiscal situation,” ani Honasan.
