Naitala umano nitong Mayo 9, 2022 National and Local Elections ang pinakamapayapang halalan sa buong kasaysayan ng lalawigan ng Sulu.
"We are happy and proud to say that the election in Sulu is successful, with zero election-related violent incidents. In all areas we were deployed, the election went on smoothly as scheduled and planned. The presence of the security forces provided confidence to our people to vote and prevented those who have planned to conduct atrocities. This is remarkably the most peaceful election in the history of Sulu," pahayag ni Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu ar 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division Commander, Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio.
Ani Maj. Gen. Patrimonio, zero election-related incident ang naitala sa Sulu nitong nagdaang halalan at naging “smooth” at “on schedule” ang sitwasyon sa lahat ng panig ng lalawigan sa tulong ng mga naka-deploy na tropa ng militar.
Dagdag pa ng heneral, "Malaki na ang ‘pinagbago ng security landscape ng Sulu. Although, there were three (3) minor incidents, our troops and police counterparts were able to respond immediately and stabilize the situation in those areas. Mga minor na alitan lang at suntukan ang nangyari. So, generally, the election in Sulu is very peaceful and orderly."
Maliban aniya sa tatlong maliit na insidente ng suntukan na agad ding nirespondehan at naresolba ng militar at pulis, nanatili umanong kalmado ang kalagayan sa mga lugar na ito.
Tinatayang aabot umano sa kabuuang 2,976 na sundalo kabilang ang 168 officers, at 125 reserve troops ang idineploy ng JTF Sulu upang mag-election duty sa lalawigan nitong Mayo 9.
"Let us continue to work together and march in unison towards our collective vision of bringing lasting peace and stability in the province of Sulu," saad pa ni Patrimonio.
Samantala, pinasalamatan din ni Patrimonio ang lahat ng mga tauhan ng JTF Sulu at mga partner stakeholders sa pagsusumikap makamit ang mapayapa at matagumpay na eleksiyon sa Sulu ngayong taon.
