Comelec sa umano’y cash distribution sa Uniteam campaign rally: We need complainants

Hindi umano tatanggapin ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) bilang sole evidence ang video ng mga supporters ni dating senador Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos na diumano ay tumatanggap ng pera matapos ang campaign rally sa Nueva Ecija.
Ayon sa Comelec, kailangan ay mayroong proper complaint bago magsagawa ng imbestigasyon hinggil dito.
Ilang news outlets ang nag-report hinggil sa distribusyon umano ng mga puting envelope na may lamang P500 bills sa mga dumalo sa campaign rally ng Uniteam standard-bearer at ng kanyang running mate na si Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio noong Martes.
Naging usap-usapan ang cash distribution sa Marcos-Duterte rally matapos ulanin ng kritisismo mula sa iba’t ibang grupo at social media users.
Ngunit ayon kay Comelec Commissioner George Garcia nitong Huwebes, hindi maaaring gumawa ng aksiyon ang poll body nang dahil lamang sa naturang sa video, at naghihintay umano sila ng complainants hinggil dito.
“In cases like this, it is part of any investigation that before we formally conduct… there is a need to have complaints,” ani Garcia sa isang press briefing sa Comelec office sa Maynila.
Siniguro rin ni Garcia na “if they (organizers) were found to have faults, we will definitely prosecute.”
Umapela rin ang veteran election lawyer sa publiko na huwag agad gumawa ng mga konklusyon dahil mayroong presumption of innocence until proven guilty.
