Celeb endorsers, ‘di dapat gamitin ang platforms sa pangangampanya — Comelec

Ipinaalala ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) sa lahat ng celebrity endorsers na hindi dapat gamitin ang kanilang platforms at mga programa upang mangampanya para sa mga political candidates.


Sa isang virtual press briefing ngayong Biyernes, sinabi ni Comelec spokesperson Director James Jimenez na ang paggamit ng mga platforms ay posibleng maging isyu dahil maaari itong ikonsidera bilang aniya, “donated advertising time.”


“Under election laws, candidates who have programs should take a leave from their programs. We do not refer to endorsers but again it’s good practice siguro to not use their platforms to campaign because magiging issue ‘yan in terms of using these platforms for campaign purposes. Magiging considered ‘yan na donated advertising time eh, so magiging issue ‘yan,” paliwanag ni Jimenez.


“So referring to candidates, in the first place, for them to take a leave, but for endorsers to maybe not use their programs or platforms to campaign for candidates because that might be considered donated air time,” dagdag ng opisyal.


Gayunman ayon kay Jimenez, naglaan naman ang Comelec ng isang platform para sa libreng live streaming ng mga online political rallies ng mga national candidates sa gitna ng pandemya ng COVID-19.


Ang Campaign S.A.F.E. Comelec e-Rally Channel sa Facebook ay nagbibigay ng online airtime sa mga kandidato na tatakbo sa pagka-pangulo, bise presidente, senador at party-list groups na tumatagal ng 3 hanggang 10 minuto.
