Pumanaw na si Cebu City Rep. Raul del Mar sa edad na 79.
Ito ang kinumpirma ni House Secretary General Atty. Jocelia Bighani Sipin, subali’t walang ibinigay na detalye tungkol sa dahilan ng pagkamatay ng mambabatas.
Nagpaabot ng pakikidalamhati si Speaker Lord Allan Velasco sa pamilya ni Del Mar.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his constituencies in the first district of Cebu City, whom he had served well despite his health condition," ani Velasco.
Ayon kay Velasco, kahit nasa ospital si Del Mar, nagagawa pa rin nitong makadalo sa mga virtual plenary sessions at public hearings sa Kamara.
"His contributions to Congress and the nation cannot be overstated, having served a total of nine terms as congressman since 1987. He was a mentor to me and many others," sabi ng Speaker.
"The dedication of Congressman Del Mar to public service is truly remarkable and serves as an inspiration to many. We owe him a debt of gratitude. He will be missed," aniya pa.
Noong 1987 hanggang 1998, 2001 hanggang 2010 at 2013 hanggang sa kasalukuyan, nagsilbi sa unang distrito ng Cebu City si Del Mar bilang kongresista.
