Tila muling ibinalik ni Jayson Castro ang panahon ng kabataan nang buhatin ang TNT Tropang Giga sa isang come-from-behind victory kontra sa Alaska Aces, 81-77, kahapon sa 46th PBA Governor’s Cup sa Smart Araneta Coliseum sa Quezon City.


Kinamada ni Castro ang 20pts para tulungan ang 2021 PBA Philippine Cup titlist na makuha ang unang panalo sa dalawang laro sa panibagong komperensiya.


“Kelangan eh. He always comes to the rescue when we needed him most. He just covered the lack of scoring of his team mates, mostly Mikee (Williams) and Roger (Pogoy) by not hitting their shots. Ganyan naman siya, he allows others first to score, but his behind them,” pahayag ni TNT coach Chot Reyes sa post-game interview, na nakakuha ng kabuuang 49-points sa bench kabilang si ‘kurimaw’ member Glenn Khobuntin sa 16 pts habang nag-ambag ng 13 pts si import McKenzie Moore at super-rookie Mike Williams sa 12pts.


Nasayang para sa Alaska ang tikas ni import Olu Ashaolu na may 29 pts katulong si Jeron Teng na tanging local na may double-digit score sa 13pts. Samantala, masasaksihan ang mainit na rivalry ng “Manila Classico” sa Araw ng Pasko sa pagitan ng Barangay Ginebra Kings at Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots sa second game ng 6:45pm, habang sa unang laro ang NLEX at Phoenix Super LPG ng 4 p.m. Kinabukasan, Dis. 26 ay labanan ng Terrafirma at SMB sa unang laro at TNT kontra Rain or Shine sa main game.
