Dear Chief Acosta,

Ako po ay isang registered nutritionist-dietitian (RND) at nabigyan po ako ng sertipiko at lisensya noong Hunyo 2020. Hindi ko po matandaan ang eksaktong araw kung kailan ito ipinagkaloob sapagkat ang aking ID ay nawawala sa ngayon. Nararapat na po bang asikasuhin ko ang renewal ng aking sertipiko o lisensya? Dear Antonet,

Ang sagot sa iyong katanungan ay matatagpuan sa Seksyon 20 ng Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10862, na kilala sa tawag na “Nutrition and Dietetics Law of 2016”. Ayon dito:

“Section 20. Issuance of Certificate of Registration and Professional Identification Card. - A certificate of registration shall be issued to those who have passed the licensure examination, subject to compliance with the registration requirements and payment of fees, as prescribed by the Commission. It shall bear the signature of the Chairperson of the Commission and the Chairperson and members of the Board, indicating that the person named therein is entitled to the practice of the profession with all the privileges appurtenant thereto. Until withdrawn, revoked, or suspended in accordance with this Act, the certificate registration shall remain in full force and effect.

A professional identification card, bearing the registration number and date, its validity and expiry duly signed by the Chairperson of the Commission, shall likewise be issued to every registrant who has paid the prescribed fee. It shall be renewed every three (3) years upon payment of the prescribed fees therefor and compliance with the CPD requirement.”

Ayon sa nasabing probisyon ng batas, ang Certificate of Registration ay ipinagkakaloob sa mga pumasa ng licensure exam upang maging isang registered nutritionist-dietitian. Maliban dito, nagbibigay rin ng isang Professional Identification Card kung saan nakalagay ang numero ng pagkakarehistro, araw ng pagiging epektibo nito at araw ng kawalan ng bisa, at pirmado ng Chairperson ng Professional Regulation Commission. Ang nasabing ID ay nararapat na i-renew kada tatlong taon, matapos magbayad ng mga karampatang fees at sundin ang iba pang requirements ng continuing professional development.

Sa iyong nabanggit na sitwasyon, meron kang tatlong (3) taon magmula noong Hunyo 2020 upang asikasuhin ang pagre-renew ng iyong sertipiko o lisensya bilang isang registered nutritionist-dietitian o RND. Nais ko rin ipaalam sa 'yo na kung ang isang tao ay lumabag sa nasabing batas, siya ay maaaring mapatawan ng parusang pagbabayad ng multa o pagkakakulong, o parehong pagbabayad ng multa at pagkakakulong, base sa nasabing Seksyon 39 ng R.A. No. 10862.
