Halos 106,000 balota para sa May 9 elections ang kinokonsiderang depektibo at nakatakdang sunugin sa harapan ng mga kandidato, political parties, o kanilang mga representante, ayon sa Commission on Elections (Comelec) ngayong Lunes.


Sa ginanap na pagdinig sa House Committee on Suffrage and Electoral Reforms, sinabi ni Comelec Commissioner George Garcia na sa ngayon, may kabuuang 105,853 ballots ang nakitaan ng tinatawag na smudges, improper cuts and colors, o unmatched timestamps.


“There are certain ballots with smudges, there are certain ballots cut unevenly, there are ballots, the timestamp po ‘yung sa gilid ‘pag nakita niyo ‘yung balota, merong timestamp, hindi nagtatapat, dapat po kasi laging nagtatapat ‘yun. And then the colors, your Honor, hindi siya tamang colors ng balota,” paliwanag ni Garcia.


Binanggit naman ni Garcia na nasa 82.4% o 55,579,298 ballots mula sa 67,432,616 kabuuang balota ang naimprenta o nakalimbag na.


Ang natitirang 18% ng balota ay ipi-print pa, subalit aniya, hindi rin matiyak kung ang mga ito ay defect-free o walang depekto. Habang ang mga lalabas na may pagkakamali ay dapat ding sunugin.


“Para mas ma-satisfy ang ating Committee, these defective ballots will be presented to the public, accounted for individually with proper data, at ang lahat ng ito ay susunugin in front of all the political parties, the candidates, and their representatives,” giit pa ni Garcia.
