1,484 LGUs, may fire stations na

Naitala na tumaas na sa 1,484 ang bilang ng LGUs na mayroong fire stations, ayon kay DILG Secretary Benjamin Abalos ngayong Nobyembre 11.


Siniguro ni Abalos na mas pinagbuti nito ang paghahanda sa mga sunog at mga emergency sa mas marami pang LGUs sa buong bansa.


Sa loob ng mahigit isang taon mula Hulyo 2022, itinayo ang 72 na bagong fire stations, dahilan para maging 150 LGUs na lamang ang walang fire trucks at fire stations.


“Of the 150 LGUs, six have newly constructed buildings for operationalization, 16 are ongoing construction, and the remaining 128 LGUs are recommended for priority construction,’’ ayon sa DILG.


Sa kasalukuyan, mayroon ang Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) ng kabuuang 2,912 firetruck units na may iba't ibang water capacities, kabilang ang 465 na bagong 1,000-gallon trucks na nakuha sa bulk procurement mula noong 2022.


“With more fire stations and modern fire trucks, the response time of the firefighters in case of fire will be shortened from the standard seven minutes for every kilometer and about seven minutes per 2.5 kilometers in Metro Manila due to traffic congestion,” paliwanag ni Abalos.


Binigyang-diin ni Abalos na ang pagtatayo ng karagdagang fire stations at pagbili ng lifesaving equipments ay bahagi ng istratehikong hakbang tungo sa modernisasyon ng BFP.
