VP Sara, ipinatatawag na ng impeachment court

Ipinag-utos na ng impeachment court na ipatawag si Vice President Sara Duterte.

Binigyan ang Bise ng 10 calendar days para sagutin ang mga nakasaad sa Articles of Impeachment.

Samantala, maaaring magsumite ng reply ang prosekusyon sa loob ng hindi na lalagpas ng limang araw mula sa pagtanggap nito.

Una rito, pormal nang nag-convene ang Senado kahapon bilang impeachment court para sa paglilitis kay VP Sara kaugnay ng mga alegasyon ng culpable violation ng 1987 Constitution, graft and corruption, at betrayal of public trust.

Pinangunahan ni Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano ang panunumpa ng 22 senador bilang senator-judges suot ang maroon robes kasunod ng kanyang panunumpa bilang presiding-judge kay Sen. Camille Villar bilang pinakabatang senador sa impeachment trial.

Ito ay makaraang tanggapin ng Senado ang Articles of Impeachment mula sa House of Representatives.

Nabatid na tanging si Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa lang ang hindi nanumpa bilang senator-judge makaraang tumakas sa Senado noong Huwebes ng madaling-araw, ilang oras matapos ang shooting incident sa ikalawang palapag ng Mataas na Kapulungan noong Mayo 13.

“For the record, Resolution No. 39 or the Rules of Procedure on Impeachment Trial should continue to apply. We further note that Rule 6, which therefore provides that the provisions of the Rules of the Senate and the revised Rules of Court shall apply suppletorily whenever applicable,” pahayag ng pangulo ng Senado.
