Unang kaso ng ASF, naitala sa Guimaras – DA

Nakapagtala ang Department of Agriculture (DA) ng unang kaso ng African Swine Fever (ASF) sa lalawigan ng Guimaras nitong Biyernes.

Ayon kay Jose Albert Barrogo, DA-Western Visayas Regional Technical Director for Operations, ang mga specimens ay natanggap ng ahensiya nitong Disyembre 15 mula sa Barangay Sawang sa munisipalidad ng Buenavista. Habang nai-test ang mga ito para sa virus nitong Disyembre 16.

Matapos lumabas ng resulta, agad na nag-convene at tinalakay ng DA Regional ASF Task Force ang mga posibleng measure at intervention para maiwasan ang pagkalat ng ASF.

Nag-isyu naman ang provincial government ng Executive Order No. 188 Series of 2022, na nagmamandato para sa temporary ban ng pagpasok at paglabas ng baboy, karneng baboy, mga pork products, at by-products papunta at mula sa munisipalidad ng Buenavista.

“The DA-WV is in close coordination with the local government unit concerned in the implementation of the ASF protocols within the 500-meter radius and one-kilometer radius and will be providing necessary technical and logistical supports for the containment of the infected area the soonest possible time,” saad ni Barrogo.

Sinabi pa ng opisyal, magpapatupad din ang task force ng pinaigting na surveillance at monitoring activities sa kalapit na mga barangay at iba pang mga backyard farms sa munisipalidad.

“We appeal to the public not to panic and follow the ASF protocols being implemented in all ports of entry, and animal checkpoints and also intensify their respective biosecurity measures,” sabi ni Barrogo.

“ASF is not contagious to human. Let us buy pork that has undergone NMIS meat inspection and from reliable and NMIS-accredited meat supply stores,” aniya pa.
