Solidum, aprub ng CA panel bilang DOST chief

Aprub na ng Commission on Appointments (CA) panel sa kanyang posisyon si Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. ngayong Miyerkules.

Si Solidum, isang career government official, ay itinalaga ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa DOST noong Agosto 2022.

Bago ang kanyang appointment, nagsilbi si Solidum bilang DOST Undersecretary para sa Disaster Risk Reduction-Climate Change Adaptation (DRR-CCA), at Undersecretary para sa Scientific and Technical Services.

Nagtapos si Solidum ng Bachelor of Science degree in Geology mula sa University of the Philippines (UP), nakatapos din ng isang Masters degree in Geological Sciences mula sa University of Illinois, at isang Ph.D in Earth Sciences mula sa Scripps Institution of Oceanography sa University of California.

Una nang sinabi ni Solidum noong Agosto na ang kanyang pamumuno sa ahensiya ay magpopokus sa tinatawag na job creation, research at development, food security at resiliency, health, at human resource development.

“Together with my colleagues, we will push with the socioeconomic agenda of the President so that the mission of DOST to provide maximum economic and social benefit to the Filipinos will be realized,” pahayag ni Solidum sa CA Committee on Science on Technology ngayong Miyerkules.
