SO No. 2, nilagdaan ni P-BBM… Importasyon ng 150,000 MT ng asukal, aprub ng DA-SRA

Naglabas na ang Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) ng Sugar Order No. 2 para sa importasyon ng aabot sa 150,000 metric tons ng asukal upang madagdagan na rin ang suplay nito sa bansa.
Base sa isang kopya ng SO 2, kung saan nakalatag dito ang importation plan para sa crop year 2022-2023, na naka-post sa SRA website at nilagdaan ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na siyang kalihim ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at chairman ng SRA board, ang 75,000 tons ay ilalaan sa mga industrial users habang ang natitirang 75,000 tons ay para sa mga consumers.
“The maximum volume covered by this order shall not exceed one hundred and fifty thousand metric tons (150,000 MT) of refined sugar,” ayon sa order na ini-release nitong Martes.
Kinumpirma naman ng Malacañang ngayong Miyerkules ang inisyung SO 2.
“Confirmed po,” saad ni Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles.
Batay sa SO 2 mandates, “sugar traders participating in the import program shall ensure that their respective allocated volumes shall arrive in the Philippines not later than November 15, 2022, and shall be given a month to distribute the sugar to their clients.”
Ayon din kay acting SRA Administrator David John Alba, pumasa sa Sugar Board ang importation program para tumugon sa parehong industrial users at consumers.
“This import program is just a stop gap measure because we expect supply from the mills to flow into the market as refineries are expected to be in full operation by next month,” sabi ni Alba.
