Nasa 15,000 security personnel ang ide-deploy para sa seguridad ng unang State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Hulyo 25, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP) ngayong Huwebes.
Sa isang statement, sinabi ng PNP na ang mga itatalaga sa SONA ay binubuo ng mga police personnel, sundalo, at force multipliers mula sa iba pang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno.
Ayon kay PNP director for operations Police Major General Valeriano de Leon, naiprisinta na ni National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Police Major General Felipe Natividad, ang isang security plan kay Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos noong nakaraang linggo.
“The presentation was impressive, but there will be minor adjustments in the actual deployment,” saad ni De Leon.
Isang task force ang bubuuin para sa seguridad ng SONA, kung saan may koordinasyon ito sa ibang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno para sa traffic rerouting, pagsasaayos ng mga protesters, at iba pang security issues.
“The security preparations would not be as stringent as the inauguration because this will be done in a closed building, but still, we have to be very careful about the surroundings, especially that Quezon City is a populated area,” sabi ni De Leon.
Gaganapin ang SONA ni Pangulong Marcos sa Batasang Pambansa sa Quezon City.
Sinabi naman ni De Leon na ang mga protesters ay maaaring magsagawa ng kanilang mga programa sa freedom parks.
“We expect rallyists to air their issues, but we encourage them to hold it at the right venue,” ani De Leon. “There will be dialogue on this matter with them... We also have to respect their rights,” dagdag niya.
Batay rin sa direktiba ni PNP officer-in-charge (OIC) Police Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr., ayon kay De Leon, ipapatupad ng pulisya ang maximum tolerance sa mga protesters para maiwasan ang hindi kailangang komprontasyon sa mga ito.
Kaugnay nito, una nang sinabi ni House Secretary General Mark Llandro Mendoza na papayagan na ang full capacity sa Batasang Pambansa Complex para sa SONA ni Pangulong Marcos sa gitna ng COVID-19.
