Para ‘di mapag-iwanan… Pag-isyu ng digital national ID, pinamamadali na ni P-BBM

Ipinag-utos na ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. na pabilisin ang digitalization ng National Identification (ID) system na maaaring gamitin para sa pampubliko at pribadong transaksyon, ayon sa Presidential Communications Office (PCO) ngayong Biyernes.

Sa isang statement ng PCO, sinabi ng ahensiya na ibinaba ni Pangulong Marcos ang direktiba sa ginanap na meeting kasama ang Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) ng Digital Infrastructure sa Malacañang nitong Huwebes, kung saan isa sa mga usapin na tinalakay ay ang plano ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na ituloy ang isang Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project para sa paglulunsad ng kanilang Digital PhilID App.

“During the discussion, President Marcos asked the private sector to help get the National ID out, noting it has the technology and capability for new digital IDs,” pahayag ng PCO.

“Naiwanan na tayo sa technology, so we have to catch up,” ayon sa PCO base sa pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos.

Inanunsiyo rin ng PCO na target ng Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) na ilunsad ang naturang mobile app sa unang quarter ng taon, at maisama sa digitalization ang automated eKYC (Know Your Customer), identity theft protection, credit card and loan applications, at digital wallet.

Ayon sa PCO, “The Digital ID integration to a digital wallet will address long queues whenever the public avail of the government’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) aid, be equipped with anti-fraud and anti-scamming measures and ease the Department of Social Welfare and Development measures in disbursement of government cash aid.”

Matatandaan na ang Republic Act No. 11055 o ang Philippine Identification System Act ay nilagdaan bilang isang batas noong Agosto 6, 2018 ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
