Nasa tinatayang P80 milyon halaga ng mga smuggled gold jewelry ang nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Sa isang statement ngayong Biyernes, sinabi ng BOC na humigit-kumulang sa 24 kilograms ng assorted gold jewelry ang itinago sa loob ng lavatory ng isang aircraft na dumating sa bansa mula sa Hong Kong nitong Nobyembre 17.
Ayon sa BOC, nadiskubre ng boarding inspector mula sa Aircraft Operations Division (AOD) ang mga piraso ng alahas sa ginawang boarding formalities sa eroplano kung saan dumating sa NAIA Terminal 2.
Iniutos naman ni BOC-NAIA district collector Carmelita Talusan ang malalimang imbestigasyon para matukoy ang mga sangkot na mga indibidwal sa tangkang pagpupuslit.
Ayon pa sa BOC, “It ensures stringent implementation of border security measures as directed by Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz and aligned with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s order to stop smuggling in the country.”
