P121M puslit na sigarilyo, nasabat ng BOC sa Subic

Nakasabat ang Bureau of Customs (BOC) ng tinatayang P121 million halaga ng smuggled na sigarilyo sa Port ng Subic.


Sa pahayag ng BOC, naharang ng operatiba sa Subic port ang 4x40’ containers ng sigarilyo na may market value na P121 milyon.


Sa report ng Customs, dumating noong August 22 sa Port of Subic na galing sa China at Hong Kong, ang 4x40’ containers, kung saan naglalaman umano ito ng frozen cinnamon bread, frozen pineapple pocket bread, snake and ladder board games, dominos board games at rubber strips. Subalit, tumambad sa kanila ang iba’t ibang brand ng sigarilyo.


Ayon sa District Collector na si Maritess Martin, ang pinakabagong nasabat ng ahensiya ay resulta ng mahusay at matinding pagsisiyasat ng kanilang operatiba.


“Also, adopting and catching up to the modus operandi of unscrupulous stakeholders played a big role in this apprehension for this is the first time that the BOC has seized cigarettes concealed in a refrigerated container van,” sabi ni Martin.


Gayundin, 100% physical examination, ang patuloy na isinasagawa ng Customs Examiner upang makita nang husto ang laman ng bawat shipment, ayon sa BOC.


Samantala, nag-isyu na ang Port of Subic ng Warrants of Seizure and Detention laban sa naturang shipments at nagrekomenda na rin ang Bureau’s Action Team Against Smugglers (BATAS) ng pagsasampa ng kaukulang criminal charges sa mga smugglers.


“This serves as a warning and reminder to all that BOC will not let up in its effort to protect the border,” sabi pa ni Martin.
