Nagpataw ng suspensyon ang Office of the Ombudsman sa dalawa pang opisyal ng National Food Authority (NFA) sa gitna ng patuloy na imbestigasyon sa umano'y pagbebenta ng rice buffer stocks ng pamahalaan.


Sa isang pahayag noong Lunes, kinumpirma ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na sasailalim sa preventive suspension ang kamakailang itinalaga na officer in charge (OIC) sa National Food Authority (NFA) na si Piolito Santos, at Jonathan Yazon, ang ‘acting department manager for operation and coordination.’


Matapos ang suspensyon, muling gagampanan ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. ang kanyang tungkulin bilang NFA administrator, habang naglilingkod si Direktor ng DA Larry Lacson bilang deputy administrator.


“We want to stabilize the situation at the NFA following the events of last week,” pahayag ni Tiu Laurel.


“We want to help NFA employees during these challenging times to continue to provide uninterrupted service, especially during this harvest season,” dagdag niya.
