Mikee Jaworski bagong IOC ng 2032 Summer Games

Bagong naitalaga si Philippine International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski bilang Chairman ng IOC Coordination Commission para sa 2032 Summer Games sa Brisbane, Australia.

Ayon sa IOC, itinalaga ni outgoing president Thomas Bach ang dating equestrian athlete/ actress para sa naturang tungkulin mula na rin sa kahilingan ng papalitan niyang si Kirsty Coventry matapos niyang bakantehin ang tungkulin nang mahalal na sumunod na pangulo ng komite.

"A former equestrian athlete who represented the Philippines internationally, Jaworski has been a member of the IOC [Executive Board] since 2020. She has strong connections with Australia, having trained and competed in the country, including in Brisbane, for her entire career," saad ng IOC sa kanilang website.

Sinabi ng Olympic body na pamumunuan ni Jaworski ang  Coordination Commission meeting sa Brisbane mula May 20 hanggang 2032, na dadaluhan din ni Bach at Coventry.

"As Commission Chair, Jaworski will oversee the planning and delivery of the Olympic Games Brisbane 2032, working in close partnership with the Organizing Committee, the Olympic Movement stakeholders, local authorities and International Sports Federations. Her role will be to ensure that all aspects of the project are developed and executed to the highest standards, creating an inclusive, sustainable and memorable Olympic experience for athletes, fans and communities alike," paliwanag ng IOC.

Bilang IOC member mula 2013, si Jaworski ay dating Asian Games gold medalist at kasalukuyang chairman ng Olympic Education Commission.
