Espesyal na binanggit ng Philippine Sports Commission Chairman ang mahalagang nagawa at tagumpay ng mga babaeng atleta sa iba’t-ibang international sports competitions sa Women in Sports Awards Night na idinaos kamakalawa sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
“Your contribution to the country is seen and felt by everyone. The community of champions you have established is what we need in advancing our agenda and platforms of all athletes,” sabi ni PSC Chairman Richard Bachmann. “To all our awardees, may this be an inspiration in performing your best in every battle in the spirit of dedication and commitment to the sporting community as we all together take steps in achieving a more successful Philippine Sports."
Nabanggit din niya ang tagumpay ni chairperson Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo sa bowling kung saan maraming natamong karangalan ang Hall of Famer at Bowling World Cupper. Si Coo ay kasama sa pitong WIS Lifetime Awardees kasama si kapwa bowler at 1988 Seoul Olympic gold medalist Arianne Cerdena at Tokyo gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo. “Tonight is the testament to the strength, dedication and passion of Filipino women,” wika ni Bachmann.
Ganoon din ang sinabi ni Chairman ng Senate Committee on Youth and Sports Senafor Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go na pinuri at binigyang pugay at pagkilala ang mga mambabatas na taga-Davao ang mga tagumpay ng female athletes sa sports. “I salute to the outstanding performances of our female athletes. Their exceptional and brilliant exploits in international sports arena indeed commendable that every Filipino should emulate,” saad ni Go.
Nagbigay si Senadora Pia Cayetano na dati ring national athlete ng P100,000 sa kanilang exemplary athletics achievements bagamat 'di siya nakarating sa awards night.
