Mass gathering tulad ng rally, isa sa dahilan ng pagkalat ng COVID-19 — Malaya

Pinaalalahanan ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang mga mag-oorganisa ng rally na pahalagahan ang kalusugan ng kanilang sarili dahil ang mass gathering umano ang isa sa pinakamabilis na paraan sa pagkalat ng virus.

Sinabi ni DILG Undersecretary and spokesperson Jonathan Malaya na huwag magbulag-bulagan sa scientific evidence na ang mass gathering ang pinakamabilis na paraan ng pagkalat ng virus. Ito rin umano ang magiging dahilan ng paghawa hanggang sa kanilang pamilya at komunidad.

“We urge them to be responsible Filipino citizens and do their part in defeating this global pandemic. We ask them to be part of the solution and not the problem,” dagdag ni Malaya.

May ilang grupo ang magpoprotesta sa Lunes kasabay ng SONA ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte kabilang ang Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) sa loob ng campus ng University of the Philippines Diliman matapos itong hindi payagan sa Commonwealth Avenue.

Ayon kay National Capital Region Police office chief Police Major General Debold Sinas, naglabas ang DILG ng memorandum kung saan pinapayagan lamang ng Inter-Agency Task Force ang mass gathering tulad ng movie screening, sporting event at iba pang entertainment activities, community assembly at non-essential work gathering na may limitado lamang ng bilang na dadalo. Ito ay nakapailalim sa Section 4 Paragraph 12 ng Omnibus Guidelines ng Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines.

Kaya naman payo ni Malaya na huwag magsagawa ng mass gathering ngayong panahon ng pandemic dahil ito ay may high risk sa COVID transmission.

While we agree that the public has the right to peacefully assemble for the redress of grievances, we are in the middle of a global pandemic, and such assemblies are subject to reasonable regulation of the authorities to protect public health and the general welfare.”
