Isang uri ng pang-aabuso.. Mga mahilig mang-ghost, kakasuhan! – Teves

Isang mambabatas ang naghain ng isang panukala na layong ideklara ang ghosting o biglaang pagputol ng komunikasyon sa isang tao sa kanyang idini-date o karelasyon, bilang isang emotional abuse.

Inihain ni Negros Oriental Representative Arnolfo Teves Jr. ang House Bill 611, kung saan nakasaad, “ghosting defines as a form of emotional abuse and happens once a person is engaged in a dating relationship with the opposite sex, in turn affecting the mental state of the victim.”

“Ghosting is a form of spite that develops feelings of rejection and neglect. Ghosting has adverse effects on the mental state of the one being ghosted and his or her emotional state is still adversely affected as he or she will be constantly thinking of the welfare or the unexplained reasons of the one who ghosted,” ani Teves sa kanyang explanatory note.

“The ambiguity with ghosting is that there is no real closure between the parties concerned and as such, it can be likened to a form of emotional cruelty and should be punished as an emotional offense because of the trauma it causes to the ‘ghosted’ party. In view of the foregoing, the approval of this bill is earnestly sought,” dagdag pa ni Teves.

Ipinaliwanag din sa panukala ni Teves ang tinatawag na dating relationship bilang isang sitwasyon kung saan nagsasama ang mga partido bilang husband and wife na walang benepisyo ng kasal o sila ay romantically involved nang matagal na at nagpapatuloy habang nasa panahon ng relasyon.

Gayundin, nakasaad sa measure na ang casual acquaintance o ordinary socialization sa pagitan ng dalawang indibidwal sa isang business o social context ay hindi isang dating relationship.

Gayunman, ang proposal na ito ni Teves ay hindi nagbibigay ng multa o fines hinggil sa act of ghosting.
