Naniniwala si Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na mas magiging madali ang paglilinaw sa lahat ng isyu kung haharap si Vice President Sara Duterte sa Senate impeachment court.

Una nang inatasan ng impeachment court si Duterte na humarap sa pagsisimula ng paglilitis ngayong araw, Hulyo 6, nang personal o sa pamamagitan ng kanyang abogado.

Kung siya ang akusado, sinabi ni Marcos na personal siyang haharap at sasagutin ang mga paratang.

"I would almost insist over the advice of lawyers. If they advise me not to appear, I would insist on appearing," ani Marcos.

Bagama’t nasa pagpapasya aniya ng akusado kung haharap siya o hindi, sinabi ni Marcos na nagsilbing senator-judge sa impeachment trial ni Chief Justice Renato Corona na mas mabuti kung ang akusado mismo ang sasagot sa mga alegasyon sa halip na dumaan lamang sa kanyang mga abogado.

“Of course, it would be much easier to get to the bottom of everything if you can speak to the accused directly, if the accused can answer directly, not through secondary channels, not through the lawyers,” dagdag pa ng Pangulo.

Nabatid na nahaharap si Duterte sa apat na articles of impeachment kaugnay ng umano’y maling paggamit ng confidential funds, unexplained wealth, bribery sa mga opisyal ng Department of Education, at grave threats laban sa Pangulo at kay First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
