Magpapatupad ang Philippine National Police (PNP) ng gun ban sa Metro Manila simula Hulyo 22 hanggang Hulyo 27, ito ay para sa seguridad ng unang first State of the Nation Address (SONA) ni Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Ayon kay PNP director for operations chief Police Major General Valeriano de Leon, inaprubahan na ni PNP officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. ang gun ban.
“I just talked to our good officer-in-charge si Lieutenant General Vicente Danao and he verbally approved the conduct of suspension of permit to carry firearms outside residence and that is three days before the SONA -- and that is July 25 -- and two days after the SONA,” sabi ni De Leon reporters sa isang interview.
Kaugnay nito, nasa 15,000 security personnel, kabilang na ang mga police personnel, sundalo at force multipliers mula sa ibang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno ang ide-deploy para sa SONA ni Pangulong Marcos sa Hulyo 25.
Isang task force ang bubuuin para sa seguridad ng SONA, kung saan may koordinasyon ito sa ibang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno para sa traffic rerouting, pagsasaayos ng mga protesters, at iba pang security issues.
Papayagan naman ang mga protesters na magsagawa ng kanilang mga programa sa mga naka-designate na freedom parks.
Ipapatupad din ng pulisya ang maximum tolerance sa mga protesters para maiwasan ang hindi kailangang komprontasyon sa mga ito, ayon pa kay De Leon.
