Gun ban, Aug. 28-Nov. 29 — Comelec

Sa bagong calendar of activities na inilabas ng Commission on Elections, ang gun ban ay mula Agosto 28 hanggang Nobyembre 29.


Kaugnay nito, simula sa Hunyo 5, tatanggap na ang Comelec ng aplikasyon para sa gun ban exemption kaugnay ng Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.


Sa Comelec Resolution 10918, sinabi ng poll body na ang aplikasyon para sa Certificate of Authority para makapagdala ng armas sa panahon ng gun ban ay puwedeng ipadala electronically sa Committee on the Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns mula Hunyo 5 hanggang Nobyembre 15.


Ito ay sa pamamagitan ng Comelec website na www.comelec.gov.ph.


Ang mga exempted sa gun ban ay President, Vice President, Chief Justice ng Supreme Court, Senate President; lahat ng incumbent senators; House of Representatives Speaker; lahat ng miyembro ng House; at Justices ng SC, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, at Court of Tax Appeals.


Exempted din ang lahat ng hukom ng regional, municipal, at metropolitan trial courts; Ombudsman, Deputy Ombudsman, at investigators at prosecutors ng Ombudsman; prosecutor general, chief state prosecutor, state prosecutors, at prosecutors ng Department of Justice; at mga opisyal at ahente ng National Bureau of Investigation.


May automatic exemption din ang Cabinet Secretaries, Undersecretaries, at Assistant Secretaries, lahat ng Election Officers, Provincial Election Supervisors, at Regional Election Directors.


Exempted din ang mga opisyal at miyembro ng law enforcement agencies/entities, mga opisyal ng departments, divisions, offices performing law enforcement at security functions, mga opisyal at personnel ng jail and corrections facilities, intelligence and investigative divisions, at Department of Justice, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, at iba pang public offices at institutions.


Sa panahon ng gun ban, bawal magdala ng armas.


Ang lalabag ay mahaharap sa election offense na may penalty na pagkabilanggo ng 1 hanggang 6 na taon at matatanggalan ng karapatang bumoto at habambuhay na diskwalipikasyon sa paghawak ng public office.
