Ex-Comelec spox Jimenez, magreretiro na

Nakatakdang magretiro si Commission on Elections (Comelec) Education and Information Department Director James Jimenez sa poll body matapos na magsilbi sa institusyon ng halos dalawang dekada.

Sa isang statement ngayong Sabado, inanunsiyo ni Comelec Chairman George Garcia na inaprubahan na ng Commission En Banc ang kahilingan ni Jimenez na retirement sa poll body sa ginanap na kanilang Regular Meeting noong Agosto 31, 2022, aniya, “which he applied for with the Comelec Personnel Department on August 2, 2022.”

“This effectively grants Dir. Jimenez’ intent to avail of the optional retirement as Director IV of the Education and Information Department effective September 15, 2022, as allowed under Civil Service Rules,” pahayag ni Garcia.

Nagsilbi si Jimenez na direktor ng Education and Information Department ng Comelec mula pa noong 2004 habang spokesperson ng poll body mula 2007 hanggang unang bahagi ng Mayo ngayong taon.

Na-relieve naman si Jimenez sa kanyang tungkulin bilang spokesman kaugnay ito ng kontrobersiya na humantong sa kanselasyon ng final presidential and vice presidential debates.

Dahil dito, pinalitan si Jimenez ni Law Department director Rex Laudiangco bilang acting spokesperson ng Comelec, subalit nanatili siya bilang Comelec director ng Education and Information Department.

“The whole Comelec family expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Dir. Jimenez for his long exemplary service to the Nation through the Commission. We wish him all the best as he embarks on this new chapter in his life,” saad ni Garcia.

“We shall now start the vetting process even in an acting capacity,” sabi pa nito.
