Naglunsad ang Department of Education (DepEd) ngayong Huwebes ng bagong channels kung saan ang mga estudyante ay maaaring mag-report ng mga insidente ng sexual harassment at pang-aabuso sa mga paaralan.


Ito ang pinakabagong programa ng DepEd bilang pagsisikap ng ahensiya para palakasin ang tinatawag na child protection o proteksyon sa mga kabataan sa mga paaralan matapos maiulat na tinatayang nasa 7 high school teachers sa Bacoor, Cavite ay maakusahan ng sexually harassment ng kanilang mga estudyante.


Sa isang statement ng DepEd, sinabi ng ahensiya na ang mga biktima ng harassment at pang-aabuso ay maaaring mag-report direkta sa opisina ni Vice President at DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte via email: depedabusereport@gmail.com.


Habang ang mga reklamo o complainants ay maaari ring itawag sa opisina ni VP Sara sa pamamagitan ng telepono bilang 8633-1942, 8635-9817 at 09959218461.


“Direct line po siya kasi naintindihan natin ‘yong embarrassment at sensitivity ng matter kapag pumupunta sila sa officials ng school,” pahayag ni DepEd Spokesman Michael Poa sa isang press conference.


Sa isang statement ng Enough is Enough, isang grupo ng mga estudyante na nakaranas ng sexual harassment sa mga paaralan, binati nila ang ginawa ng DepEd sa pagtatatag nito ng isang hotline para sa mga campus abuse at harassment victims.


“We hope that this is a permanent fixture and not a knee-jerk reaction that will not be sustained once the controversies die down. We [also] hope that only qualified individuals in psycho-social support should be part of its team and not enablers of predators that will only gaslight victims and exacerbate their trauma,” pahayag ng grupo.


Samantala, nagsampa na ang DepEd ng administrative charges laban sa 5 mula sa 7 guro sa Cavite na inakusahan ng sexual harassment.


Ayon kay Poa, hindi magawang kasuhan ng DepEd ang dalawa pang guro dahil sa tinatawag na lack of evidence, kung saan hinimok naman niya ang mga biktima ng harassment na lumapit sa ahensiya at mag-file ng affidavits.


“Naghihikayat tayo sa victims ng alleged sexual harassment na lumabas para makapagbigay ng kanilang affidavit, statement or ebidensiya at para mabigyan natin ng formal charge, hindi lang itong 7 [teachers], pati na rin ‘yong ibang sinasabing nag-commit ng sexual harassment,” saad ni Poa.
