Earthquake at fire drills, ipatupad sa mga paaralan – DepEd

Ipinag-utos ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa mga pampublikong paaralan na magsagawa ng “unannounced earthquake and fire drills” tuwing una at ikatlong linggo kada buwan.

Batay sa pinakabagong order ng DepEd, ang mga school heads at school disaster and risk reduction management coordinators ang mangunguna sa planning, implementation at monitoring ng mga drills.

“These drills are to ensure that all learners are properly guided on what should be done during and after an earthquake or occurrences of fire in schools,” nakasaad sa order.

Hiniling din ng DepEd sa mga paaralan sa National Capital Region (NCR), Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna at Rizal na lumikha ng anito, “a separate and specific disaster plan for a magnitude 7 or higher earthquake.”

“The plan shall specifically lay down the response should there be a scenario involving mass casualties of learners and personnel,” giit pa ng ahensiya.

Bukod sa pagtiyak sa kaligtasan ng mga estudyante at school personnel, ipinaliwanag naman ng DepEd, “local drills and simulation exercises are preventive measures that familiarize escape routes and reinforce proper actions in the occurrence of a calamity.”

Sinabi pa ng ahensiya na ang pagkakaroon ng isang epektibong preparedness plan ay makatutulong na makapagligtas ng mga buhay.

Ang mga pribadong paaralan, community learning centers, at state o local universities at colleges ay may option na i-adopt ang naturang mga provisions ng order para sa kanilang sariling disaster preparedness plan.
