Pabor si dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga inihayag ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., kamakailan na may mga pang-aabusong nagawa sa ilalim ng nakaraang administrasyon dahil sa pagtutok sa pagpapatupad ng batas.
Tiniyak ni Duterte na walang intensyon si Pangulong Marcos na punahin siya dahil batid umano ni Marcos kung gaano kahirap na maging isang presidente lalo na umano sa mabibigat na problema ng bansa sa kasalukuyan.
"Yes, that was attributed allegedly made by the President. I am not sure if he was quoted in the complete context of the statement. I am sure that it was not intended to criticize me because he knows how hard it is to be President, especially with the serious problem right now," reaksyon ni Duterte sa panayam ng SMNI News nang hingan ng komento kaugnay sa sagot ni Marcos sa isang tanong tungkol sa human rights situation sa Pilipinas sa isang forum sa Washington.
"You know what am I supposed to do. I cannot be libertarian, I can only be a stoic human being dedicated to enforce the law because you are the implementors, you are the enforcers," saad ni Dutere.
Inamin din ng dating Pangulo na hindi lamang pang-aabuso kundi minsan ay maging ang pamamaslang.
"Tama siya na along the way in the enforcement of the law, a rigid attitude towards the enforcement of the law, abuses will be committed. Ngayon sabihin ko, I’ll go further. Not only abuses, sometimes killing unnecessarily," hirit pa ng dating pangulo.
"Along the way collateral damage marami 'yan, those never intended I am sure by the law enforcement agency. Meron 'yang collateral damage in a shootout, inside the house of the," dagdag pa niya.
