Dagdag-singil sa tubig ng Manila Water at Maynilad, aprub – MWSS

Panibagong pasanin ang mararanasan ng mga kostumer ng Manila Water Company Inc. at Maynilad Water Services Inc. dahil sa mas mataas na singil sa tubig sa susunod na taon, matapos na aprubahan ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) ang hirit na rate hike ng mga naturang water concessionaires.

Sa isang statement ngayong Huwebes, sinabi ni MWSS-Regulatory Office chief regulator Patrick Ty na inaprubahan ng ahensiya ang rate rebasing adjustments para sa parehong concessionaires, kung saan ipapatupad mula 2023 hanggang 2027.

Batay sa MWSS, “The rate rebasing is a process, done every five years, that determines the level of rates for water and sewerage services that permits the water concessionaires to recover, over the life of the concession, its operating, capital maintenance and investment expenditures.”

Matatandaang inihirit ng Manila Water para sa kada cubic meter ang dagdag sa water rate ng P8.04 simula 2023, P5 kada cubic meter sa 2024, P3.25 kada cubic meter sa 2025, P1.91 na aabot hanggang P3.00 kada cubic meter sa 2026, at pagitan ng P1.05 at P1.08 kada cubic meter naman sa 2027.

Ang pagtaas ng rate adjustment ay isinagawa upang mapondohan ang P180-billion operational requirements ng Manila Water para sa susunod na limang taon.

Samantala, hiniling naman ng Maynilad ang P3.29 kada cubic meter ng water rate adjustment simula sa Enero 2023.

Para sa mga susunod na taon, ipinanukala ng Maynilad ang P6.26 increase sa 2024, P2.12 dagdag sa 2025, at P0.84 pagtaas hanggang sa mahigit P1 increment mula 2026 hanggang 2027.

Gayundin, ang rate adjustment ay layong mapondohan ang P150-billion expansion plan ng Maynilad na ipapatupad sa loob ng limang taon.

Ayon kay Ty, ang rate rebasing adjustment para sa taong 2023 hanggang 2027 ay inaprubahan matapos ang mga series ng mga public consultation drives na isinagawa noong Hulyo at Oktubre ngayong taon.

“These rate adjustments will enable Manila Water and Maynilad to provide the highest quality of water, sanitation, and sewerage services that their customers deserve. These include the development of additional water sources that will ensure continuous improvements in the supply of safe drinking water as well as the expansion of environmentally safe wastewater services within the concession areas,” pahayag ni Ty.

“The Office assures the public that it remains relentless in protecting their interest and welfare, and that it is committed to upholding transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance,” dagdag ni Ty.
