Dadalo sa ASEAN-EU summit… P-BBM, nakipag-meet na sa Filipino community sa Belgium

Dumating na si Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Brussels, Belgium ngayong Lunes ng umaga (Manila time) upang dumalo sa Commemorative Summit sa pagitan ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at ng European Union (EU), na gaganapin mula Disyembre 11-14, 2022.

Ayon kay Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) Officer-in-Charge Cheloy Garafil, si Pangulong Marcos kasama ang ibang miyembro ng Philippine delegation ay dumating sa Brussels International Airport ng 9:55AM Manila time o 2:55AM Brussels time.

Kabilang sa mga miyembro ng delegasyon ni P-BBM ay sina First Lady Liza Marcos, dating Pangulo at Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Department of Finance (DOF) Secretary Benjamin Diokno, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, at Sen. Mark Villar.

Nakaiskedyul namang makipag-meet si Pangulong Marcos sa mga miyembro ng Filipino community sa Brussels hapon ng Lunes, na unang official activity nito sa European city.

Batay sa datos mula sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), may mahigit sa 5,600 Pilipino ang kasalukuyang naninirahan at nagtatrabaho sa Belgium.

Sa Martes, dadalo si Pangulong Marcos sa 10th ASEAN-EU business summit na hosted ng EY ASEAN Business Council, at isang C-Suite luncheon para sa ASEAN leaders at mga guest mula sa pribadong sektor.

Inaasahan ang Chief Executive na magsalita sa parehong events, na aniya, “will provide opportunity to drum up economic interest once again and engagement for the Philippines in view of the presence of key business leaders in Europe at the event.”

Sa Miyerkules, dadalo naman ang Pangulo sa ASEAN-EU Commemorative Summit, kung saan mga kaugnay na mga isyu patungkol sa parehong regional organizations ang inaasahang tatalakayin.

Kabilang sa mga isyu na inaasahang matalakay sa naturang summit ay global at regional security challenges, sustainable development, at economic cooperation.

“This will be the first meeting between ASEAN and EU Member States’ Leaders at the EU Headquarters and I am pleased to highlight the Philippines’ role as country coordinator for ASEAN in its dialogue relations with the EU,” pahayag ni Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang departure speech ng Linggo ng gabi.

Aniya pa, “[I would push] Philippine priorities within the context of the ASEAN-EU cooperation during the Summit, particularly in post-pandemic economic recovery and trade, maritime cooperation and of course climate action.”

Nakatakda din si Pangulong Marcos na makipag-meet kay King Philippe ng Belgium, gayundin magkaroon ng bilateral meetings sa mga lider ng Estonia, the Czech Republic, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Finland, the Netherlands at sa iba pang EU member states.
