COVID-19 ikatlo sa nangungunang sanhi ng pagkamatay sa Pilipinas

Kabilang ang COVID-19 sa mga nangungunang dahilan ng pagkamatay sa Pilipinas sa unang 11 buwan ng taong 2021, ikatlo kasunod ng ischemic heart at cerebrovascular diseases, ayon sa Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Sa pinakabagong datos ng PSA, nanguna ang ischemic heart diseases bilang sanhi ng mortality sa bansa mula January hanggang November 2021, na may 125,913 cases o 17.9% ng total deaths.

Tumaas ito ng 31.9% mula sa dating 95,439 cases o 17% ng total deaths sa parehong panahon noong 2020.

Ikalawang sanhi naman ang Cerebrovascular diseases na may 68,180 deaths o 9.7%.

Ayon sa PSA tumaas ito ng 16.6% mula 58,476 deaths o 10.4% sa parehong period noong 2020.

Ang mga pagkamatay dahil sa COVID-19 (virus identified) ay ang ikatlong sanhi na mayroong 67,494 deaths (9.6%).

"Figures in this release, specifically for deaths due to COVID-19, may differ from the one released by the Department of Health (DOH) because the figures in this release were obtained from the certificates of death particularly the descriptions written on the medical certificate portion therein as reviewed by the health officer of the local government unit concerned," pahayag ng PSA.

"On the other hand, the figures released by the DOH were obtained through a surveillance system. Furthermore, figures in this release for deaths due to COVID-19 refer to both confirmed and probable cases as of registration."

Ang Neoplasms or cancer naman ang ikaapat na sanhi na mayroong 54,853 cases o 7.8%.

Ang mga pagkamatay naman dahil sa diabetes mellitus ay 44,491 o 6.3%, na siyang panlima listahan.
